Understanding One Another Through God's Word by Talmadge and Sharon Foreman

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek his will in all you do and he will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6).

In reading this scripture, we know that there is nothing we can do on our own; we must always seek God for his wisdom. As a married couples we seek to understand one another and in doing so we forget to seek God's wisdom to help us understand each other as an individual person.  We fall upon our own knowledge.  In the eighteen years that we have been married, we are still learning to understand one another.

In order to understand one another through God's word you have to study God's word. In doing so, we find the tools we need to go through all the difficult things that may come our way.  To understand God's word, our hearts must not be harden and our eyes not closed because if these things happen then we cannot and will not turn to God to heal us.  In the same instance, if we harden our heart, close our ears and eyes in our marriage, how can we see one another to even begin to understand our mate or God's word.
When we read Isaiah 40:28 it says: "Have you never heard or understood that the Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of all the earth, he never grows faint or weary.  No one can measure the depths of his understanding."  When we grow weary in our marriage we can find understanding by reading this verse and know that God never grows tired of us, so we must do all we can through the word of God to live by his examples through the WORD.   If we acquire wisdom and cherish understanding in our mate, we will prosper, and this being, more love, more joy and more peace in your home and marriage.

Our prayer for all marriages is that God takes us and our marriages and mold it to be what he wants it to be.
